Question about Priority Waitlist

If I were to accept a spot on the priority waitlist, and something were to come up after I sent my letter in, would it be possible to call them and have my name removed from the priority list? I am counting on (and I think I will probably be successful) getting an ROTC Scholarship but if that doesn't happen I won't be able to afford CMU.

Please reply soon I have to choose whether or not to accept a spot soon.

I think you should call the Office of Admissions for that. But most likely they won’t return your money.

Last year everyone who got waitlisted got rejected because they over enrolled (I believe that only occurred at some schools within CMU). I asked an admissions officer who came to my school why that happened last year and she said they did not expect that many students to attend. Also, she said that this year they are accepting less people and waitlisting more so that doesn’t happen again.

Good Luck!
