Question about rankings

hey
I was wondering about the rankings on USNews. So lets say UMich is ranked high on undergrad for like computer science or chemical engineering. Does that mean it is more difficult to finish your 4 years or does it rank it based on how well the program is written?

U.S News Ranking is not based on undergrad. In fact, undergrad doesn’t have rankings. Higher ranked colleges (grads) may provide better quality education of undergrad, but this is certainly not an established trend.

This being said, simply because UMich has high ranking does not mean it’s more difficult to graduate. It is simply based on how hard you work. One example is, although Harvard is ranked very high in U.S News, the classes are actually easy. (Relatively, of course)

So my point is, ranking has almost nothing to do with the difficulty of undergrad programs.

I think the ranking for ChemE is pretty low actually… Below top-10 I think.

But yes, the rank has nothing to do with the difficulty.

“I think the ranking for ChemE is pretty low actually… Below top-10 I think.”

LOL. They should drop the department because USNWR ranks it in the top 15 and not top 10.

It’s lower than any of the other engineering fields. So it’s not a very good example for his question.
