This might be one of the stupidest questions anyone ever asked on these boards, so I apologize ahead of time.

If I apply through the Common App and have a lot of colleges on my list (15+), does it mean that the teacher that I will ask for a recommendation letter would have to write a separate letter for each college or is it enough to write just one and then the Common App will send it to all the colleges on my list?

To my knowledge, since it is the COMMON APP, I’m sure the point is to allow you to have the same application
–> teacher recommendations distributed to each of the different schools. If I got that wrong, whoops!

Ask the Common Application about it in the “Ask a Question” tab or shoot them an email to confirm.

I believe the teacher sends only one recommendation to Common App, and it gets distributed to all schools.

But I have another question: Is it okay for a family member to send a recommendation letter under the category “Other Recommender”? Accepted types does include Family member…

@WIParent, as far as I know almost all colleges don’t allow family members to write recommendation letters. You should probably email that specific school and ask, just to be sure.

@WIParent I also do not believe parents are allowed. The “other recommender” is usually someone like a director of a school show, an employer, an advisor, a music teacher, etc.
