Question about SAT II Score Choice

Hello all!

So I understand that with the SAT II score choice option, you can cancel scores that you do not like, but are you allowed to take the same SAT II subject test multiple times and report only the best grade? (Because from my understanding, taking the same SAT II subject test multiple times does not look good on a college app.)

Thank you!

If, and this is a big if, the college allows you to do score choice for the Subject Tests, then yes, you can report the best score. That said, IMO, if you are unhappy with your Subject Test score after the second try, move on to a different subject.

Georgetown, Yale, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Harvey Mudd, and possibly Barnard (rule is very ambiguous) require you to submit all subject test scores that you have. Otherwise, when ordering scores sent you can exercise score choice and prevent CB from sending particular tests when you send others. That does not constitute cancellation of your test, which is something you can do only by the Wednesday after taking the test and before it is scored.

Be aware there are many high schools that put all your scores on your offficial high school transcript sent to colleges and, if yours does, having CB withhold the scores via score choice will not result in concealing them from the colleges to which you apply.

Will CB prevent you from using score choice if schools do not allow one? For example I still trying to find out if UCLA allows score choice for subject tests.

The UCs require that you send all SAT tests if you submit any SAT test. That rule does not mention and does not appear to apply to the optional subject tests, see http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/requirements/examination-requirement/ College Board never prevents you from exercising score choice. If the college possibly has an all scores rule, it will provide a warning to you when you go to exercise score choice but it will not prevent you from doing it. Also, it makes no distinction between when a college has an all scores rule for SAT and does not have it for subject tests, and thus for UCs you are likely to see the warning even if sending subject tests. Also be aware that CB provides the warning for a lot of colleges for which it has incorrectly concluded the colleges have “all scores” rules when they do not.

@drusba Thank you. Just to clarify: is it yes for score choice for subject tests for UC?
