Question about SAT score flucuations

Ok...The first time I ever took the SAT in 10th grade i got a 520 V and 540 M. But when I took it a year later, I was so nervous that I messed up the scantron by putting my answers for section 3 in section4. Yeah, it was stupid. Anywho, the proctor had me finish on a second sheet, but that sheet never "made it" to be scored, and yada yada i got a 210 CR 400 M 510W. Took it again in june (after studying extremely hard) and got a 680 cr 650 m 670 w. I recently took it on 5 November hoping to raise my score a bit more, but I know that there were some decreases. CR probably went to the low 600s and writing to the mid 650s, but I know my math probably went up by like a small 20-30 points. My guidance counselor told me that she would write a letter to my colleges explain the March 2005 scores, but with all of these score flucuations over three grades(10-12), is this going to hurt my chances at schools like hmm....nyu or boston college? People tell me no, but I know you guys on this site know about everything, so a response would be highly appreciated! Thanks.

No way!!!!!!

There are thousands upon thousands of students that get really crappy SAT scores the first two times, but on the third they get the score they want. Don't worry about the fact the scores having great flucuation, colleges don't care if you went from a 1500 to a 1900. They COUNT THE BEST IN ONE SITTING.

some count the best in one sitting, others count the best.

a similar thing actually happened to me, I actually started doing the essay on the second page except the first and had to erase and rewrite the whole thing when I had 10 minutes left. It was my third time taking the test so I pretty much went down in writing which isn't good.

dont worry, im sure if you send a letter explaining, youll be fine. its actually kind of funny. dont worry at all! good luck with nyu and boston!

Some very dood schools like Bowdoin and Holy Cross are SAT optional.

Why didnt you just cancel your score?

yeah i wanted to ask that too. you could have cancelled the score if you know you are 100% screwing it up/

I actually did alot better on the writing park in general, but the essay still counts as what 30% of the writing section? So at this point it could go up or down. The second time I took it I received like a 540 so I though it might actually go up even with the mediocre essay.

I didnt cancel on the march 2005 one because the proctor tole me they would just file an "irregularity" report. And, believing her, I thought everything would turn out ok.
