So, I know that you get 4 free score reports to use, but I don't understand the collegeboard's policy concerning the score reports during the test. So, if it is the day of the sat test and you write down colleges to send that score report to, does that immediately take away the 4 free score reports? Are is that separate, meaning you get 8? And if you do put down the college names during the test, are all your scores sent or just the score for that test? I would greatly appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me. Thanks.

edit: by the 4 free score reports, I mean the free score reports you get as a fee waiver user

I believe 4 is the max score reports you can send. If you want to do extra you have to pay if I am correct. And isn’t it better to send your score separately after the test is over and you know your score–because CollegeBoard allows you to take your highest in each section and send that in…? Right? Hope this helps! :)

thanks scscience! But aren’t all sat scores and sat II scores sent anyway? Oh and I won’t be taking the SAT, i’ll be taking a sat 2 subject test.

You get four free sends for the test. You must designate those by a date certain after you take the test (that date is always brefore you learn of score). If you designate four at time of applying for a test and then also designate four on date of taking test what you would actually be doing is changing the ones you designated before. The only way you can designate a fifth college for sending is to pay an additonal fee of $10.50 and thus add a fifth, paid-for send since four is the maximum free sends.

The colleges which you designate as free sends will each receive the scores from the test you are taking and all prior SAT and SAT II scores unless you exercise score choice. When doing the free send designation you can exercise score choice and uncheck any or all previous test scores and those unchecked will not be sent when your new test score comes out.

The free send designation is a “blind” send meaning you won’t know the score before it is sent to the colleges (the scores are actually sent to the colleges two days before they are even released to you on-line). If you do not designate colleges as free sends before your score comes out, your free sends are lost.

You can always wait until after a score coimes out and then order a send to a college but that one costs $10.50 per college but many prefer incuring that cost because they want to know the score before choosing to send it to a college.
