Question about SAT score/retake

Ok this is for one of my friends (hes a junior)

He has a 670 CR/800 M/800 W which is kinda weird because its totally skewed to one subject. He says that it might hurt him because of the 670 in CR

He wanted to ask

(1) Do colleges make a distinction between the same scores (for examples, he got 2270 on the SAT, if some other person got 2270-but with 770 CR/750 M/750 W-more balanced-will they make a distinction between the two scores

(2) Should he retake because the colleges he wants to apply to (ivies, stanford, mit) mostly, if not all, superscore-besides he says it wont hurt him because hes already got the 800 in M and 800 in W (he says that even if he gets 750 in M it wont hurt him-is that true?)

(3) He really wants to go to MIT. MIT is science/math based, do they not put as much emphasis on CR? I dont think so because the posts ive looked at and the applicants in the what are my chances to MIT all seem to have 700+ in CR.

(4) What good is the 800 in W exactly? Do any of the top colleges even care about the writing score (he got 12 on essay, like 75 on MC)? So really, did he just get 1470 on SAT

Thanks

oh wait and hes like in school marching band and does some regular ECs (like volunteering, clubs)

i dont know about his awards, but i think he won something for siemens research-semifinalist? (not clear though)

dont know about anyother ECs/Awards

And he has like 3.9 UW GPA-not exactly sure but definetly in top 10 percent

Schools might favor more balanced scores, but the difference between his scores isn't too big to hurt him badly. Good job for him.

P.S. Why doesn't he ask this himself?

oh i dont think he wanted to ask anyone except me
he just brought this up during lunch and asked me
i wasnt sure if i was telling him the truth (i said it did matter that it was skewed towards one subject) so i asked here

besides, does anyone else know

this also might apply to me, i think i got like 750 math/750 writing/600 reading on the december sat (estimate)
