Question About Self-Studying

So i'm a junior at a semi-rural high school with about 550 students. We only offer three AP's (Chemistry, U.S. History, Statistics), and we may be getting another one next year (Calculus).

I've been thinking recently about self-studying for another AP test... maybe two. So I basically have two questions.

First: if I self-study for one (or two) this year, which would be easy to self study for? I have a pretty well-rounded background in all subject areas. I'm already planning on taking the AP Spanish Exam my senior year.

Second: is it worth it to take AP tests (self-studied) my senior year if I'm not taking the classes? Next year I will already be taking APUSH and maybe AP Calculus if it's offered... and I'm probably taking the AP Spanish Exam. Would it make a difference on my application if I self-studied for more?

Thanks for your time =)

The three easiest AP exams according to CC are Psychology, Environmental Science, and Human Geography. Well, self-studying for senior year will have no effect on your application since colleges need proof of your self-study, which is the AP Score Report that comes out every July. Moreover, self-study courses won’t be on your high school transcript. So, the only reason for self-studying senior year is receiving college credit in college.

So I’ve decided that i’m going to try to go for AP Scholar with Honor (maybe w/ distinction) “status.” Here is a list of what exams i’m thinking of… would anyone like to help/guide me?

-Chemistry… this one is a definite; i’m in the class at my school right now.

-Comparative Gov’t/Politics***
-Spanish Language (i’m in my third year, and i’m the best in our year)
-Environmental Science
-Psychology
-English Language
-Art History
-Human Geography***

***leaning towards these

I appreciate the help!!!

Comparative Gov’t/Politics - I think you should do since you have 4 months left and it is usually a semester class.
Spanish Language-i think you need one more year.
Environmental Science - easy exam to study. you could probably do it.
Psychology - at some school, it’s a semester class. I would recommend that to you and my friend was able to study it within three months and receive a 5.
English Language - if you’re good with reading with rhetorical analysis skills and confident in writing skills, then you could take it. But i don’t recommend it since it’s one of those ap exam where u need a teacher.
Art History - I think you need more time to study for it.
Human Geography - I think you have enough time to study for it.

Remember to don’t overload yourself with easy self-study exams (advice from oasis) and good luck on the AP exams.

AP foreign languages are probably not a good idea to self-study. You really can’t learn them very well by just studying; you have to practice reading, writing, and speaking in a way that study books just don’t provide. So I’d advise against doing AP spanish, unless you’re really confident you can handle it.

So it’s down to Chemistry, Env. Sci., Comparitive Gov., Psychology, Human Geography, and English.

I think I could do pretty well in English. I got a 34 subscore on my ACT, and I have pretty strong essay skills. I’m also the editor of our school’s yearbook.

I also have a pretty strong Social Science background so that opens up three more.

I looked up the exam schedule and noticed that Chemistry and Env. Sci. are at the same time… what exactly does this mean?

If that’s the case, then you have to consult with the AP Coordinator. You’re only to take one for that day, and the other one is taken on a different day, but that one is an alternative form, which is different from the one on the formal day taken.

What happens if there are two right after each other?
