Today is the deadline for scholarships at Appalachian and I can't get my final essay sent in. I tried to save my file last night, but the website crashed. I tried to reload the scholarship page, but whenever I do, I'm redirected to a page full of code. I was able to talk to the head of scholarships last night and she confirmed that today is the last day to input my essays, but I haven't heard back from her about this issue and the main campus office is closed. My question is, will Appalachian take my final essay if I call them tomorrow and tell them about my problem? I'm worried that I won't be considered for scholarships if I can't get this fixed.

If there’s a fax number on the admissions web page, I’d try faxing it to that number today along with a cover letter of explanation. Then keep trying to upload it – it might be a temporary server problem or something. Tomorrow first thing you can call and let them know that you faxed it in time to beat the deadline and will upload it as soon as the site allows you.

That’s a good idea, but won’t an email with the essays work for that purpose and give a time stamp?

Yes that is what I would do. Find an email for admissions and make sure you can verify they received it. A fax will give you that verification also and then continue to keep trying. Whatever you try you need something verifying they received it not that you just sent it. Fax either goes through or doesn’t. Email must have receipt verification or they could say they never got it. Good luck. If you have an admissions counselor I would send it to them also. Cover all bases because they may accept it Monday but they may not.
