Question about statistics

I heard that the overall acceptance of valedictorians at pton was about 17%. Does anyone know what it is for Early Decision valedictorians?

I think you could calculate it by (27% ED rate)/(11% total rate)*(17% total valedictorian rate).

= ~42% (41.727272...)

i heard something like 80% of all valedictorians get rejected from their 1st choice school b/c they have nothing more to offer :(- sucks for me

well, do you not have anything else to offer hopeful?

I am sure you have something more to offer. That 42% stat makes me happy, however made-up it may be. :)

lol whats the stats on Salutorians? my school doesn't have ranking, btw--hurts some, helps most i guess

i would guess its around the same thing- not much of a difference

Wow, i hope that 42% thing is right. And i definitely have more to offer than a class rank. I just like some reassurance.

And if you're a val w/ a 2400 SAT, ur chances are 61%, or 100%-(100-42)%*(100-33)%, assuming being val and getting a 2400 are independent events.

lol, well why would one affect the other?

The 33% for 2400s is overall, isn't it? Cuz it's a lot harder to get 2400 than it is to be a valedictorian, so i doubt admissions would work that way.

Well, if you are val, you are more likely to get a 2400 than, let's say, someone who's in the 50th percentile of his or her class.
