Valedictorians

I was wondering how many valedictorians and salutatorians go to Princeton.

A really^50 large amount of vals and sals go on to Princeton...even after only 17% of vals are accepted....

only ppl goin to princeton at my school are tied for valedictorian. me and someone else

MusikalGeek - The val/sal stats for Princeton are daunting, but don't worry about it too much, depending on where you go to school. If you go to a lousy public school, you probably should be in the top few in the class. If you go to a good public or private school, they understand that there are a lot of good students.

It also depends on how you are presenting yourself. If you are presenting yourself as a well-rounded, great student, then they probably want you to be a valedictorian or close to it. However, if you have other skills, or are particularly good in one subject area, it won't matter as much. For example, if you are sending in a tape of your music (judging by your screen name) and they like it, they might be more inclined to take you. Even in my case, my rank at a good, non- magnet public school was 14/360 - which many people thought put me out of contention. However, I wasn't applying on the strength of my all-around academic performance, I was presenting myself primarily as a gifted English/humanities student - which my record supported.

That being said, though, your all-around stats still have to be good. In my case, I was getting B+s in AP level science and math - if I had been getting Cs, or if I had been in a non-honors track, they probably wouldn't haave taken me, since they would have had doubts about my ability. In your case, I saw in a stats thread that your SAT verbal is fairly weak. Unless you raise it at least one hundred points, I really don't think that you have a great chance. Unless you one of a very small group of highly recruited atheletes (or, maybe, the child of an alumnus who has donated millions), there is virtually no way that you will get in with an old SAT score in the 1200s. So, don't worry about your rank, worry about studying vocabulary!

Thanks. I am getting ready like crazy for the verbal. I have been in advanced lit classes my whole life, so I don't know what happened. I am trying to get at least a 1400 (old score). I'm trying to get an 800 on the math. I only missed three questions, which really makes me mad, but I'm just glad that we can take SATs over.
