So I took 3 subject tests in June and got an 800, a 730, and a 650. I know Penn only requires 2, but I had to send all three because they want to see everything.

My question is, do they only look at your best two? Or will my 650 screw me over?

Well I had a 780 Lit, 700 Math 2, and 650 US History, and I just got deferred from ED. So I don’t think it’ll screw you over completely, but it definitely won’t help

I think the most important aspect is what subjects they were in. Are they relevant to your intended major?

@ZacWilliam I indicated my intended major as Biological Basis of Behavior. My 800 was in Lit, my 730 was in Bio E, and my 650 was in USH. So not really relevant to my major.

That being said I also have a research abstract in neuroscience submitted so that’s definitely relevant to my intended major…I also wrote about it in my essay and have great grades in my science classes. Thoughts?

I just called them and they said they only consider the top 2. Thanks guys! :)

So @challengefan if it makes you feel any better your deferral wasn’t due to one little test score. best of luck to you in the RD round!!!

I think your Bio E score is good enough; I’d supplement with a Math test instead. Generally, science majors need a strong math background as well! (As I’m sure you know!)

However, I wouldn’t sweat it; Penn’s process is holistic. I didn’t even send in any SAT II scores, and I was accepted to both CAS and SEAS. They’ll know if you’re qualified Good luck! Quakers 2018!

Hi Lauren, I can’t respond to private messages because I don’t have enough posts, so here you go:

Don’t stress too much. I got several Bs (I think three) with no upward trend and I got in. The most important thing is your essays and extracurricular activities. However, the sad truth of the college system these days is that there aren’t enough seats for qualified students if you don’t get in…don’t take it personally. The Ivies suck - its all a crapshoot haha. Good luck!
