QUESTION About Summer Stock Please Help!

Hello!

So I applied kind of late for a Strawhat slot back in mid-december, and just got a letter from them yesterday saying that they couldn't offer me an audition time for this year. I was pretty foolish to only apply to one audition, especially when I submitted so late, but now I don't know what to do in terms of getting summer stock work! I'm applying super last-minute to NETC, but figure that's probably a long shot at best. Does anyone have any other suggestions for getting SS auditions so late in the game? I got to school in NYC but can travel. Thanks so much!!

mema - NETC is a resume review and so the fact that you just applied doesn’t hurt your chances since their deadline is February 1. Since you are in New York, you might want to check out the Central New York Theatres Combined Auditions next weekend. There is information here:
[Cortland Repertory Theatre, Professional Quality Summer Theatre in Cortland County, New York](http://www.cortlandrep.org/employment-audition_info.html)

I have seen a few theatres that will be holding NYC auditions in the next month or so. Most you have to apply for a slot but that’s as easy as sending them your headshot and resume electronically. Some were listed on Playbill but others were just on the theatres’ websites so it takes some research to find them all. Thank goodness for Excel spreadsheets!

Some theatres will accept audition videos for summer work. If you have theatres you are interested in working with them then I would check their websites and see.

Since you’re in school in NYC you should be getting Backstage weekly and going to the summer stock auditions being held by individual theatres in NYC. You can try the NETC auditions as well but keep in mind that they are a distance outside of Boston.
