I recently took the earth science regents and I felt that I did terrible (as in failing), (I felt really sick and in the middle of the test I actually had a fever) :(
I am currently in 10th grade of high school and had a 80 average in freshman year, however I ended up with an 87 as my average this year. My regents score last year were 85 for algebra and 81 for Liv. Environment. Do I have any chance at going to any SUNY schools? I am currently involve in 2 sports: Track and Swimming in my school.

Also, another question, If I did fail this earth science regent(which I am praying to God I didn't), how will this affect me? Will I have to take again in August. My grade currently in Earth Science is 85 in class.

Final question, how much does regents grade impact in the requirement of getting into a SUNY?

You should be able to get into most SUNYs. If you failed the Earth Science regents, I’d advise you to retake it, and it’s probably required at your school.

The one im looking forward in particular is Buffalo, however will retaking the regent replace my previous score? Do I have to retake the course in summer school if I actually fail?

Retaking it should replace your bad score. In my school you need to go to a week of summer school to retake it. I heard you guys got the hardest earth science regents in a long time. I was lucky, I took it in 8th grade 3 years ago. (I’m a rising senior now)

Sorry if I am being a pain, I’m just so nervous that I may have failed the exam, but are they strict about it ? How much do GPA or extracurricular activity count?

I think that your grades at not good enough for University at Buffalo but should be for Buff State. You might want to look at Oneonta, Oswego, Brockport, Potsdam and that level.

As for the regents, the SUNYs do look at them - they are probably the only schools in the country (other than the CUNYs) that do consider them. Try to get the advanced if you can but you might not get the distinction level since that requires an average of 90 on all required exams.

I am not sure if they are giving regents in August anymore except for the absolutely needed ones. Earth science might count, but check on the NYS Ed website. I heard that several years ago, the physics exam was so hard they rescored it. In my disrict, if you failed the regents but not the course, you did not have to go to summer school to retake it but a course of several days for review was offered. My son did that for chemistry.
