Question about Supplement Essay

"What work of art, music, science, mathematics, or literature has surprised, unsettled, or challenged you, and in what way?"

I'm choosing to do mine on a work of art that I think many people have seen but that I also feel is one that people tend to recognize upon seeing it (as opposed to just reading/hearing the name and artist). Should I include a picture of the work of art along with my essay about it?

No, you should not include a picture of the art. They want to learn more about you. Your words will be closely scrutinized. They want to know what makes you tick. Even if your art work is one that is easily recognized by many, be unique in how you express how this work of art has impacted you.

PowderPuff's got the right idea.

You aren't writing about the work, you're writing about your reaction to the work.

Thanks for such helpful responses!
