Question about Switching Classes

I am wanting to switch a class time once people starting dropping. My concern how do I switch without dropping the current class? Like less say I want to switch a friday lab to a monday lab what if I drop the friday lab (the one i'm taking) and try to add the monday lab only to find that it someone beat me to the punch. And to make matters worse my friday lab gets taken and I am screwed without a lab.

Is there a way to switch safely without the danger of getting get out of any class period?

you won’t be able to add on a class if the course times conflict or if you are at your max units for enrollment. i suggest having all of your codes typed out so you can copy/paste and just add it in the enrollment window in a matter of seconds. keep updated on the class you want in case spaces do open up earlier than you thought they would.

i’m not sure if you’re allowed to enroll in two of the same course… anyone? (if so, that’s another option… add on the new lab first, and then drop the other class)

^what i mean is that lets say a spot opens in my desired lab time can I just switch the times somehow without dropping my current lab time? My fear is that someone may get the time I want and my original time and I may be screwed without a lab.

yeah, i knew you meant that but i was suggesting that you should have the code already c/p’ed so that when you are able to enroll again, you can just paste it in. i don’t know how competitive it is to get into these labs but having everything ready to go definitely ups your chances. how many units are you already enrolled in?

Ah I see. I have 15 units. I just want a different lab time so bad!!

i think that if you are allowed to be enrolled in 2 versions of the same course, you can just add on the new lab first since you won’t be going over your limit… but does anyone know if you’re allowed to do that? (be in 2 labs at once)

Unfortunately I don’t think lab allows waitlisting. It hasn’t for my past chem classes anyway. I think it’s because there is a huge demand for labs.

I don’t think you can be in two labs at the same time. You have to drop the lab you’re in now and sign up for the other one you want. If you can’t get into the one you want and the one you had suddenly becomes full, then too bad. I’m pretty sure that’s how it works.

Yeah, I tried adding a chem lecture when I was already enrolled in a different one and it wouldn’t let me.
