Ok, I'm only going to be a junior this year, but when I heard an announcement at my school about seniors getting recommendations awhile ago, I innocently mused to myself who I would choose to do my rec. Little did I know that I think I already have the answer.

I go to a private all girls' school that is very small, so I am able to have great relationships with my teachers. However, one stands out among the rest- my orchestra director. Now orchestra is a requires a great deal of time(early morning rehearsals!) and is an elective, but this teacher is so much more. She directs the musicals, which I participate in every year. I go to her for laughs, advice, and when I'm feeling stressed out. I will have her all four years and also had her for a sophomore theater elective. If anyone knows me at my school, it's her. This probably sounds crazy cliche right now, but this is how I feel. And she knows about my academics, and sees me persevere with the trumpet that I randomly bought in nineth grade because I thought it would be fun, and stuff like that.

I know I have two years to go, but I'm just curious as to whether this would be a good idea.

In my gut, it seems fine, but it also seems a little risky- what if adcoms are like "an elective teacher?". But-do I even NEED a teacher to talk about academics when I have a transcript? Or should I go with someone more academic anyway? Can you send two teacher recommendations? Just curious. . .
