Question about the Caltech App Supplement

I really enjoy the fields of math and science but I have a few questions about Caltech's Supplement that I am worried about.

It says to list Math and Science Activities but I have not been involved in any.
And for Summer Activities I haven't done much besides SAT boot camp, summer XC program, and marching band practice.

I feel as if I am not worthy enough to make it into Caltech. And now I feel like I have a 0% chance to compete with other students to go to my dream school.

Are my feelings correct?

Thank you for your help,
Brian Kim

I’m feeling the same way

I had the same feeling when I applied. My ECs weren’t terribly math-science related - band, quiz bowl, and some tutoring were the main ones - and I still somehow got in. But extracurriculars alone don’t make or break it. You said that you are interested in math and science - try to bring that out in the other parts of your application. Essays, etc. There’s no magic formula for getting in.

If Caltech is your dream school, go ahead and apply! It can’t hurt to try, and you just might get it.

A question says:
Caltech students have long been known for their quirky sense of humor and creative pranks and for finding unusual ways to have fun. What is something that you find fun or humorous?

What we have to write exactly?A general statement or a personal one?

Thank you

For the sense of humor essay, they are looking for something uniquely personal. Undergraduate students are looking at your applications, and they are looking to see if you would fit into the culture here, as far as your sense of humor goes. Be personal, and be honest and you should be fine.

Thank you very must!It was very helpful:)
