Question about the minor

Hi guys,

I was looking on the Marymount Manhattan’s website, but didn’t find the info I was looking for. Is it possible to major in something outside of the theatre department and minor in MT? As an example, Major in psychology, but have a minor in MT?

Thanks,
Phantomess

I did my audition with Marymount already and as far as I know you cannot minor in MT without majoring in a BA in theatre arts, that's just the way it works there. Hope I answered your question! :)

Chelsstar is right you can not major in another subject and minor in MT. Actually you can only be either a BFA Acting or BA Theatre Arts (in the performance track) to minor in MT at all. Since it's a performance minor they don't want any other students but those in the two majors to be allowed. It kind of works that way across the board in the theatre department. Students can take any theatre class they want if they have some sort of theatre major or minor, but the performance classes are restricted to performance majors only since they have so many.

Also the head of the department told us at the audition that though any student in the entire college can audition for shows by the theatre department it only happens very rarely that they get cast. So if you're thinking about going to Marymount as another major and participating in theatre, it is basically impossible to do so unless you're a theatre major.
