It says "Tell us something about you that will help your roommate -- and us -- know you better." Does that mean they only want you to talk about ONE specific thing, or can I talk about numerous different things? I'm rather confused... I talked about different aspects in my essay and didn't focus on one specific area.

I'd say you can talk about many things, as long as it doesn't take away from the essay itself. like EC's, a "laundry list" would be bad, but multiple ideas seem fine.

The way I perceive it (and most college essays, for that matter) is that you should focus on a few traits about you that you can really emphasize through your mastery of words. For example, in my Roommate Essay, I showed how I am flexible, am open to suggestions, and get advice when I need it. I showed an experience that illustrated these traits. Remember, it's showing, not telling. (Then again, I'm not an admissions rep, don't take my word absolutely.)

thanks! runs off to change my essay
