Question about the Supplemental Essay

What are the unique qualities of Northwestern — and of the specific undergraduate school to which you are applying — that make you want to attend the University? In what ways do you hope to take advantage of the qualities you have identified?

I've been working at this essay like mad for the past few weeks, and the final product turned out very formal...almost like it was an essay for a job application. I think that through the research I conducted on NU to complete my essay I've demonstrated that I care a lot about NU and would love to attend the school...but due to the lack of creativity in the essay I'm not sure it really stands out.

I'm willing to PM my essay, because I understand it's obviously hard to effectively judge it without seeing it, but I was also wondering if anybody else encountered the same type of problem. Is submitting an essay that answers this particular prompt without much creativity a bad thing? Does anybody have any tips for getting around this type of problem? Thanks.

I'll read/critique it if you'd like.

I'm WCAS class of 2013.

hey i'd love to read yours- i was accepted ED, honestly i think primarily for my Why NU.

i didn't get creative with this one, i was honest, extremely specific, talked about everything from classes i sat in on to activities i wanted to partcipate and what i felt i could contribute and what i could learn from it all.

The most important thing to remember- if you could take the words "northwestern university" out of your essay and replace it with another school and it still works, its too vague and weak. most top colleges have beautiful campuses, awesome professors, many opportunities, and take care of their students. what specifically can NU offer that you can't find anywhere else?
