im not too fond of the transfering process.. but do you need to complete a whole year of one school before transfering to another?
like say im going to 1 school as a freshman this year and i want to transfer to another that only requires 12 credits to transfer, does that mean i can transfer after fall semester or do they want you to wait a whole year?

or would it be easier just to go to a community college then transfer
hopefully someoen can help out
if this is not clear enough ill try to explain better

depends on the school, Stanford only accepts transfers for fall semesters but I think a large number, maybe majority, allow for any semester. I know of several cases where students transferred after only half of their freshman year. I think if you are going to a selective school if often looks good come from another solid 4 year school, high grades certinly mean more. communities college have alot of transfer applicants because these are people who have turned their academic life around not because its better for transferring. CC if you dont get in anywhere, peace core if you only want to go to this one school, other 4 year college if you want to go to a better school but wont be terribly depressed if you dont make it. Be aware, though, that if you transfer after a semister you will have to explain why you didnt even give your current college a chance.

Edit: Their are exceptions to this though, I believe it is hard to transfer from UC to UC. And state school have an obligation to provide education for alot of its citizens so this often translates to state schools being very favorable to cc transfers but not caring so much for those who are already getting an fine education.

I know that UMich, ohio state and University of Miami allow you to transfer halfway through your freshman year because I tried to. The problem was that my high school didnt get them my transcripts there in time and since you dont even have an college grades yet thats what your admission is based on.
