Ok so I'm a Junior in HS and I'm about to visit a whole bunch of colleges. I'm taking the group tours for most but my parents told me that they heard that an interview with an admissions officer of some sort would boost my chances of acceptance. I've talked to my friends and they are all just doing normal tours without any personal talks. So I'm wondering what these 'interviews' are all about and what do I stand to gain from them?

At some colleges they can increase your chances; you might be talking to the person who actually reviews your application. Take the opportunity if you can. Some colleges don't offer interviews because of the huge increase in applications in recent years.

Some colleges and universities only grant interviews after you apply directly to their schools for freshman admission. I would contact an admissions officer for more information.
