I was admitted ED to an university back in December. I immediately contacted every other college I had applied to to withdraw my application. They have all done so except for two. These two do not provide a convenient withdraw form or such on their admissions website or my admissions account; I have emailed each of them twice (neither of which I have received any replies to) and also called them (at which point I was basically blown off; one of the schools told me that the person in charge of withdrawing applications doesn’t speak to students and the other school told me that my two emails counted as withdrawal even if I hadn’t received a response). As such, I think that both my applications to these schools are still being reviewed.
In the meantime, I was forced to submit a confirmation that I had withdrawn from my other schools to my ED school. I figured that my attempts at withdrawing from the two colleges were enough to count as withdrawal, but I’m now getting the feeling that I made a stupid decision. Thoughts?
A cover letter to both schools, with all applicable e-mails as attachments, sent by registered (return receipt requested) mail (by whatever name the USPS currently calls it). That’s absolute irorn-clad proof that you did everything possible to advise each university that you were withdrawing your application in a timely manner.
I’d just send an email to the schools stating that you are withdrawing your application and that should be sufficient. You can save the emails until the admissions cycle is complete. My nephew notified his RD schools he was withdrawing after he was accepted to his ED school, one school must not have processed that information and sent him an acceptance which he declined immediately. It was not issue at all especially since he did notify all the school.
