...since starting at my CC i've had 3W's and i'm not doing particularly well this semester in 2 of my classes....so i'm thinking about dropping them....i was wondering how bad 5W's would look? i mean, i know it will look bad....obviously...but if i don't withdraw it will kill my GPA, so i was wondering if i'm better off with a high GPA and a couple too many withdraws, or a lower GPA and less withdraws....? i know neither choice is ideal, but its one i have to make.

also, i work a full-time job during the week and a part-time job on the weekends....so i can explain them....i've been saving a ton of money this semester so i can just work part-time for the spring and summer, so i wouldn't accumulate anymore.

It really depends upon the University you're applying to, how long you've been in school and whether or not you successfully make up the courses you withdrew from so you indicate that you're not a fair-weather student, if that makes any sense. You're right, it's not ideal, but it's understandable. If I were you I'd probably withdraw and make darn sure I retake as many of those classes that I can and get A's.

yea, i think you're right. it's just aggrivating....i really want to do well, but i just get so crunched for time with work and a desire for sleep lol anyways, i've reataken 2 of the 3 classes i previously withdrew from and got A's....i'm applying to mostly state schools, only two private ones the most exclusive of which would be Bard....and the only reason I'm applying there is because they have a human rights major....the state schools won't care about the W's. anyways, thanks for responding! i feel a bit better....not really. but a little.

a ucla counselor told us that they really dont mind if you have a few Ws cause they understand that sometimes you just have to drop the class. however, if you have a lot scattered here and there, make sure you explain yourself in your essay and write how you've learned from it and how you're now more focused or wtv.
