I'm wondering how you guys send in your recs. Do your teachers send theirs separately, or do they give their recs to the guidance counselor to be mailed in one package? Also, does the flap of every envelope need to be signed, stamped, and sealed?

My teachers sent them on their own.

I gave each of my teachers and my counselor a folder for all of their materials, with addresed and stamped envelopes so that they could send them in themselves. (I actually glue-sticked on labels that I printed off in Word, but I made sure I hand-addressed each envelope underneath the label in case it fell off in the mail... that's anal). But only one teacher actually sent it in herself. The other one hand-wrote a 6 page essay, filled out the check boxes but left the short-answer parts blank (she wrote "please refer to the attached sheets, wherein all these concerns are addressed"), and gave it all back to me, saying, "Type up the letter, bring it back to me to sign it, then mail it all in." And my counselor did pretty much the same thing, only he typed up his own essay (he has the same letter for each of my schools, he just changes the name at the header... it's actually kind of lame, but what can you do?). I still had to mail in 2/3 of my recs in separate envelopes. No special packaging or anything. I think the only thing that has to be stamped with and offical seal is your high school transcript. Other than that, simple US postal service is fine.

Actually, I think I'd rather have a personalized essay from a teacher than just check marks. Because after a while, I think most kids will generally get "Top Few" or "Top 10%". But if your rec is ONLY a letter, it's much more personalized. Of course, if none of your teachers can write (i.e. my counselor) then it's a problem. My point is I appreciate the teacher that took the time to write 6 pages! And I hope the admissions officers don't get mad at me for the length.

Let me guess... The teacher who wrote you 6 pages must be your English teacher! LoL... Thanks JLP and ipsen.

What about the others? How did you do/plan to do it?
