I've already started asking some of my teachers to fill out reccomendations and gave my counseler the school reports to fill out. However, I haven't actually submitted any application yet, but if my colleges recieve something such as a teachers recommendation before I've submitted my application (which I will be doing online), will the colleges keep it on file and wait for the application to come in, or just disregard it because they can't match it to any applicant? My question is basically whether or not it is a problem if colleges recieve the complementary paper materials before recieving the actual application.

not a problem

thanks. it seemed like stupid question, but my counseler was telling me today that I should submit the application first.

when they get things such as your rec, they keep it. once they officially open your fiel (when you submit the app), the recs will find their way into your newly opened file. think about it, if this is not the case, then are you supposed to submit your app before you send your SAT scores?

Actually, my SAT scores got lost at Columbia because they hadn't received my app... I think that's why, anyway.
