question drop class

i have chosen two courses during phase I. But i want to drop one of them to take another class since the maximum units I can take during phase i is 10.5. My question is wether it is free to drop /add class at this time ?? i am afraid if i drop the class I have to wait to add class until phase II

You do it during certain hours, just verify that there is still room in the new class before dropping the old one. The best way to do that is to look up the class with schedule.berkeley.edu then click on the link at the bottom of the section listing labeled “Click here for current enrollment information and course restrictions”. It is IMPORTANT you use that link - that gives you the real instantaneous enrollment, otherwise the numbers that schedule.berkeley.edu shows are the starting values as of this morning.

quoting sections from [Tele-BEARS Enrollment Periods - Office Of The Registrar](http://registrar.berkeley.edu/current_students/registration_enrollment/telebears_enrollment.html)

Phase I

In Phase I, undergraduates can enroll in up to . . . 10.5 units; . . . You are free to adjust your schedule as long as you stay within the 10.5/12.5 unit limit.

If it’s during Phase I or II and your appointment . . . has expired [this means it is past the 24 hour period of your telebears appointment time, but not yet the end of the phase], you can only access Tele-BEARS during Open Hours, which are 7:00 am to 8:00 am and 7:00 pm to Midnight, Monday through Friday, and Noon to Midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
