To my great dismay, my school is possibly the only upstate NY school that does not offer AP courses. I wanted to know whether any of our accepted EDers or last year's acceptees got in without any APs at all. Please don't say, "Colleges judge you based on what your school offers". I KNOW that, but I want to see a real-life example (I'm CALS smitten), and I couldn't find one on the ED thread. Indulge me, please? :)

I can't give you any specific info for CALS, but I know it has happened in ILR. A friend of mine in our freshman class went to a central NY school that didn't offer any APs, and she was accepted pretty early into the ILR rolling cycle. Moreover, college admissions committees are always looking for people who have taken the most challenging courses available, and just because your school doesn't have APs doesn't mean that you did not take any academic risks. I wouldn't sweat it.

^^I agree....if your school didn't offer it...don't worry.

Anyone else? That's pretty much what I thought; it's so easy to say that you can get in without any APs if your school isn't one of the few that actually doesn't offer any APs.

I was lucky enough to go to an upstate NY school that offered APs......but as long as you were able to present a strong application to CALS (i.e. will you fit in/academic&EC achievement) then you don't need to fret over APs

a friend of mine took AP classes but she only took 1 AP exam and scored a 3 on it. that was it and she was accepted

yeah...personally....I think APs don't mean squat :-)

my school only offered 3, which I took (but didnt test on all) and I got in

One of my friends got accepted last year, and our school doesn't offer APs.
