It wasn’t on the SAO application forms but Emma Willard asked specifically for an analytic essay on its admissions website, not creative writing.
I don’t recall seeing guidance from other schools.
Whichever essay demonstrates mature analytical thought should be submitted,in my opinion.
Nevertheless, creative intelligence is highly valued at most schools.
In short, both are great options.
Be happy that you are lucky enough to have options.
My kid had a lazy ela teacher who pre-covid had the kids grade their own papers. Kid just submitted one of their self-graded papers with a note explaining the teacher’s policy.
If both fulfill the requirements of the request, choose the one YOU think best represents your ability.
It is true that I am lucky. Both the history and Enlish teachers are great this year. Good teachers are hard to expect. Thank you so much for answering.
