Question for my brother..

He's making his transition to his Junior year next year, and while overlooking the classes offered, I noticed that they offered a VERY LOW amount of AP Classes (4 actually). On the other hand, they do have a high number of EC's.

The school I have in mind is the one near us, which has over 13 AP classes that he could take, that would potentially look good on a resume.

That said, should he stick with the old school, or go to the new one?

Right now, I believe his EC's are somewhat similar to mine:

While the new school would have MORE AP's and EC's, wouldn't it be too late since he's a junior?

Night bump

Anyone...?

Can someone reply, please?

It doesnt matter which school he goes too. I'd prefer a school where my rank would be higher.

Last year, he was easily in the top 10%.

Will the lack of AP/Honors classes at his current school affect his chances into getting into prestigious schools even though he has numerous EC'S?

As long as he's taking advantage of the most rigorous courseload available, he should be fine. He shouldn't be be penalized if he only had access to a few A.P. courses. Four A.P.s would only look 'bad' if the school offered, say, twenty.

my school only offers one ap class; english

Take as many Aps as you can and maintain a good rank in the school. I spoke with Ben on the caltech forum and he said that adcoms look at rank over gpas, provide the courseload is a rigorous as possible in the school.
