Question for Northwestern ED (dual degree involving music!) + Chance

Hi everyone,

I just got my updated GPA and rank, so here are my stats. I am a rising senior.

UW GPA: 3.74 (upward GPA trend every year)
Rank: 17/468
SAT I: 2270
SAT II: 800 Math II… will take Chem or US Sat II this october
AP Scores: 5 Human Geo, 4 World History, 5 English Lang, 5 Calculus AB, 4 Physics I, 5 Stats, 4 US History (taking 5 more this year)
Ethnicity: Asian

I am also one of the presidents in the school NHS as well as the drum major of the marching band.

Now here’s the thing. I would love to double major/dual degree in music performance and economics. With my stats, I am probably a borderline student academically. I feel like I have what it takes musically to make it (I have taken masterclasses/lessons from renowned performers, and been to performing arts camps).

I absolutely love the professors of music (of my instrument) there. Although I do think I have what it takes, there’s obviously that chance I don’t get in by audition. So is the ED risk worth taking to get in academically first? Thanks everyone!

I also should add I will have great recommendations and I do have some ECs (volunteer hours, TON of music if that counts)

i am applying dual degree with music too! what instrument do you play?
