im taking macro right now and was thinking about self-studying for micro so i can hopefully test out of it next year. however, from what i've heard self-studying for micro is going to take a lotta work....

is it really worth it to try and get ECON001 and ECON002 out of the way? do you get an advantage by being in a higher class/testing out of it? any advice would be appreciated.

i was planning on saying the same thing but i talked to a W 10' and he said the basic econ classes are the basis of your learning at wharton and the econ professor they have is 99 out 100 times going to better than your or you self studying.

plus he said its also a class where you will meet alot of people.

i think im going to take it at wharton because it think that being tough the basics of econ by a penn professor is probably something i shouldnt pass up. but to each his own

im kinda confused about this too......i have 5s on AP Econ tests but ive heard that business/econ majors are better off taking econ in the freshman year of their college cuz college econ teaches you much more than AP

You would take Econ 010 if you are in Wharton. It is half micro and half macro in the same semester. A large number of the kids in it have already taken econ so it moves relatively quickly. It is worth the refresher or easy A since it is only 1 semester.

atvqueen, I never had Econ in high school (it wasn't offered) and I really don't know a lot about it. Can you recommend any books that I could read over the summer so that I will have at least SOME kind of econ background?
