Question of being deferred

one thing I'd like to point out is the vast majority of athletes that were accepted during ED. After a quick facebook stalk of the Hamilton Class of 2013 group, it is evident that many athletes were accepted. Because schools have a limit (not physically, but to preserve stats) on how many kids they accept ED, athletes must have taken up a good chunk of those spots. This being said, I don't think it is unlikely that they had to defer a number of students who normally would have made it or who were qualified enough as to determine if they are still qualified when RD comes along. So don't give up if you got deferred! Methinks there is hope!

Thanks, snoboarder38..
I hope you can get into Hamilton in Apr
For me, I am not as interested in Ham asyou, maybe I will just choose some other schools

I recieved the myhamilton account info through snail mail a couple days after I mailed in the ED agreement. I never recieved anything through e-mail.

reading the 1st page really scares the sh** out of me! more than 60 EDers is just ftw!!! thanks snoboarder38 so much that you can make me feel better!

any apply for ED2? do you think it will be a much better chance applying for ED2 than RD?

i just hopped over from the Dartmouth ED as my son was deferred there, as were about 400 others. You need to be careful asbout trying to 2nd guess the Admissions folks. I have friends in 2 very selective schools admissions process and they both say there has NEVER been a year like this one. As recruited athletes were part of the ED1 process, more were deferred and there were many more great candidates in the first place. What gets crazy now is that as Middlebury, Dartmouth etc. reject, many of those kids turn their sites to Hamilton. But as long as you weren't rejected, the FACT is you still have a chance to get in either RD and some definitely will. All this speculation is just wasting your time. Think about where you WANT to be and preserve as many options as possible.

what do you mean by 'turn their sites to Hamilton'? they apply for RD as a match choice or decide that they can't get in Dartmouth so they apply EDII?

"what do you mean by 'turn their sites to Hamilton'? they apply for RD as a match choice or decide that they can't get in Dartmouth so they apply EDII?"

Yes, that is exactly what happens.

I saw that Hamilton's endowment is down. Are they being more selective with kids who need a lot of aid?

While their endowment is down, the financial aid budget is supposed to go up. I doubt that Hamilton will turn you away if you're a qualified candidate. They're just getting more selective in general because of an larger applicant pool, I'm pretty sure.
