Question on Appeals

Hi, I’m hoping someone can provide insight in to the appeals process. In the extremely unlikely event that an appeal results in SDSU re evaluating a student’s application packet due to some sort of error etc; how does the admission work when every major is impacted? What I’m really asking is, how would a student ever get in on an appeal, when every major is impacted (so there’s a waitlist for every major right?) in the event that the slots are not filled? Or do I have that wrong? I’ve read that appeals are a lower priority than waitlisted applicants, so am I understanding that an appeal would only result in an admission if the appeal was successful in that the package is reconsidered for admission AND the applicant has an eligibility index qualifying him/her to be admitted for that particular major AND everyone on the waitlist declined admission for that major? Thanks in Advance!

Appeals are rarely successful but if you are accepted off appeal, SDSU would make room for you in the major you originally applied.

Thank you very much for your insight. I had heard that students admitted on appeal had “lower priority” than students admitted off the waitlist which made me think an appeal would never make any sense for impacted majors (all of them at SDSU) in which case why bother. Even if you have a good case.

My attitude is if you have a solid reason for an appeal, what do you have to lose at this point.
