Question on College Application, I appreciate any insights!

Question 1.

I've been in trouble with the law, I received a traffic violation but later on I had the case dismissed due to medical reasons.

DO I have to mention this? I don't know what to put for application.

This is what application is asking:

Have you been convicted of a crime?

Have you entered a plea of guilty, a plea of no contest, a plea of nolo contendere, or an Alford plea, or have you received a deferred prosecution or prayer for judgment continued, to a criminal charge?

Have you otherwise accepted responsibility for the commission of a crime?

Do you have any criminal charges pending against you?

Have you ever been expelled, dismissed, suspended, placed on probation, or otherwise subject to any disciplinary sanction by any school, college, or university?

From my side, I was not convicted, I plead not guilty. I just received a traffic citation and had to go to court, the case was dismissed.

I think from my point I will write/type a small paragraph when I send my documents letting them know the truth. They always say, honesty is the best policy.

What do I say for such answers, can you please provide me any insights, thanks!

Question 2.

I am applying as a transfer student to an engineering branch (electrical and computer). I want to know do I have to take the SAT again. I took some 3 years ago will those work.

Question 3.

Do I have to send all my high school records and transcript again?

Question 1: I am not sure whether a traffic citation is really what they mean on the applications, particularly if it was dismissed. There is no record and so it does not exist ad far as any university is concerned.

Question 2: I don’t believe that transfer applications require the SAT again. They judge you on your academic record in the CC (at least that is what we do at [Illinois Institute of Technology](http://www.iit.edu)).

Question 3: Again, I believe that the only relevant information is your college record.

3 yrs is not that old for the SAT, I can’t think of any schools that require a retake. You need to check the college websites for the colleges you’re applying to, and for Engineering in particular as they often have different requirements, to see if the SAT must be sent.

No, many colleges require you send in a Secondary School Final Report and official HS transcript (see the CA). Question #3 totally depends on the college, there is no universal answer. You need to go to the websites of the schools you’re applying to and see what their requirements are for a HS GC report and transcripts.

A traffic violation is not a “crime” by any definition. Do not mention it.
