How many times can you take them?? I'm a rising sophomore and hope to take it to qualify for my nearby college courses (like Yale). If you take it can you take it again if you arn'et happy with your score?

You can take practices as many times as you want. Just call the college board, they'll be all too happy to sell you an old test. However, it only counts for the National Merit Scholarship during your junior year.

there is one chance a year to take the PSAT since it is a practice situation. as of right now you have two chances to take them this year and next year. if you are worried about the whole testing thing, you could get a prep book for it or a regualr SAT prep book. Good luck!!!

Study for the SAT at the same time you study for the PSAT. My PSAT score went from 167 to 216 after a summer's worth of studying for the SAT. And then I made the mistake of not taking the SAT in october so whatever.

futurenyustudent is right. that's what i did and i went from a 194 to a 236 but only a 2190 on the SAT. :( do NOT take it in oct. that is when all the seniors take it for a 'last' chance type of thing and so do the national merit semifinalists to boost their chances of getting finalist status. take it in NOVEMBER!

Fill out the application, write one essay, cross fingers. You need to have decent SAT scores.
15,000 of the 16,000 semifinalists become finalists.
