Question: Recruited Athlete and Ivy League

My situation is this:
I have started on the Varsity Football team at my high school since sophomore year and this year, as a senior and team captain, I am being recruited by a number of different schools, mostly Div II and Div III. (Ex. Amherst, Tufts, Trinity) I plan on applying to Princeton early-action, but I'm probably not good enough to play football there. My SAT combined score is 2280, I am number 2 in a class of 476. I understand that as a recruited athlete, your chances of getting into an Ivy League school go up, but does this mean you have to be recruited by that school? In other words, on the Princeton application, would it help to say I am a recruited athlete even though Princeton is probably not interested in my playing football there?

No, it will only help you if you are being recruited by Princeton and the coach supports your application with a Likely Letter or by some other means. I think it might actually be a disadvantage to indicate you are an athlete being recruited by other schools. The ad com might think that you are more likely to attend a school where you are being recruited.

I have a dumb question, how much contact have you had with the Princeton coach? Did you ever indicate that you were interested in playing there? You seem to have really good stats and am just wondering at what point you came to know or guess that Princeton is “probably not interested” in your playing or why you are not good enough to play there if schools like the NESCACS etc. are recruiting you.
