Question regarding NAPS

Looks as though my second boy will be going to NAPS, and we have few questions :

1) looks like he's not getting any of the nominations, is it needed?
2) How does he apply for the nomination while he's there, is it like
this year( whole application process) or Secretary of the Navy nomination
is automatically provided if he does perform well in his stay in NAPS?

I'm not total novice in Navy thing since his older brother just graduated from
Annapolis, but he took the direct route, thus my wife and I are a bit nervous and
confused with this route. Thanks everyone for your help.

I would think his older brother would be able to allay all your fears.

For nominations, yes, he is eligible for the SecNav but NAPS requests that he go through all the nomination sources available.

Nothing to be nervous about. Great program.

Hello NavyDad09, my son graduated from NAPS in May of 20009 and is now a Plebe at USNA. NAPS is a great but demanding program…they take Physics, Calc and Chem…USNA does Calc and Chem in Plebe year…advantage is that they come into USNA “Navy Ready”. You don’t have much to worry about other than keeping your candidate motivated and working hard…NavStation Newport can get boring and current admin has tightened up. So they will get challenged up there. If you’d like more info please let me know.
