I'm wondering if schools can see if you selected Score Choice or not. Is there a box that is ticked if you do (in Common App/CollegeBoard)?

If not, how do you show universities which participate in Score Choice you didn't use it? To put it in context, if you get a good score on your first/second try, how do you show schools like Harvard you are better qualified than someone who took the SAT 12 times and used Score Choice to show a score that is the same as yours. Thanks in advance

From Harvard admissions:

"Does Harvard consider scores from previous administrations of the SAT, ACT, or SAT Subject Tests?

Yes.

If a student takes the required tests more than once, which results does Harvard consider?

We consider a student’s best test scores, but it is generally our experience that taking tests more than twice offers diminishing returns."

My take: Many schools encourage you to submit all scores anyway, and then evaluate you based on your highest. If they really think taking the test only once makes you “better qualified,” they would require all of your scores. But that’s uncommon, or at least I’ve never seen it done. Ultimately, it doesn’t appear that colleges judge you based on the number of times you sat for the test. Fair? Maybe not.

This argument is one reason why the CollegeBoard ended Score Choice until recently. SC does seem to favor student who can afford to retest multiple times. As far as your first question, I don’t think there is a box that indicates whether or not you used score choice. I think it is mainly the honor system in that they expect that you follow their guidelines and submit all of your tests.
