Question regarding undergraduate econ at Harvard

Does anyone know how many undergraduate students major in econ each year? Or how many students graduate with a bachelor's degree in econ each year? Cann't find this infomation online.

Here’s a table as of end of December 2004-2008:

Economics

Economics

2004 - 686
2005 - 686
2006 - 733
2007 - 769
2008 - 742

Economics + another field

2004 - 39
2005 - 40
2006 - 37
2007 - 22
2008 - 17

Is that the total number of economics concentrators in the college or is that the number of concentrators per graduating class?

^ The numbers are too large to be for a single graduating class.

“Number of Concentrators as of December”

Yes, this is for the whole college. To get a rough idea of how many per year, you would divide by three (as students don’t declare a concentration until sophomore year). So about 250 per year.

And, sure enough, the NCES page on Harvard shows 243 bachelor’s degrees in economics awarded last year. Like cosar’s table, that probably includes “Economics +” and excludes a few “Something Else + Economics” joint concentrations.

There are generally two places to find data like this online. Each university’s registrar usually has something – in Harvard’s case, it’s all buried in a student handbook, on department-by-department pages, but usually there will be some registrar’s report with everything lined up. Then the National Center on Educations Statistics (nces.ed.gov) has a “College Navigator” site where there is a whole bunch of searchable, sortable, current information in a common format, including degrees awarded in the last complete academic year, by field.
