question to the horseback riders

I wanted to know what stables you do/ plan on riding at while at UCLA. I've wanted to properly learn western riding since I've been out riding with family members who own horses but I've never taken lessons. I know that Mill Creek Stables is close, but they only teach english style riding. I really want to learn western though, so any info on stables would be really appreciated.

Thanks!
Deanna

check it Foxwood (sp?), i heard its one of the top riding schools in the world. the people who go there are fairly affulent but they're prices were the same as other stables if i rememeber correctly, around $25 an hour abt 3 years ago.

I currently do jumping, but am planning on selling my horse soon. I don't think I will have time to ride and keep up in classes. Plus I'm not bringing a car. :(

foxfield is the best place, its pretty close. also that LA equestrian center in burbank. dont forget to pony up the dough for that kinda thing!

Thanks guys! Haha pony up the dough, I'm amused. But def., I realize it'll get expensive and I'll probably have school conflicts so maybe not the first year since I don't think I'll be bringing my car up until my second year (assuming it lives that long, it's almost as old as I am!). But money hopefully won't be an issue, I'm getting a lot of financial aid and I'll be working too.

"it's almost as old as I am!"
hehe ditto. mine's 17 years and... my mom forbids me to drive it from the bay area down here...
oh well. can't get parking anyway xD

Wow we have a lot in common, I'm from the bay too! My mom will let me drive it but suggests I don't take it the first year. But I def. want to bring it up since I was up there for a weekend and my host didn't drive so we couldn't do anything.

it's not a matter of suggesting you not take it first year...
unless you are one of the lucky few first years with parking priority, you're not gonna be ABLE to bring a car here.
there are ways to have a car without a parking permit, but it's such a hassle. and i'd say it's not worth it for norcal people. least not the first year ;)
