Does anybody here horseback ride?

Stole this from the tennis thread!

If you do, what kind of riding do you do (english or western)?
If you do english, what kind of english do you do?
How long have you been riding?
Are you applying to a school that has an equestrian program?

Like the tennis thread said, this is just out of curiosity, not competition.

Thanks!

...apply to Thacher, wonderful horse program.

Yep - graduated already, but I was at Stoneleigh-Burnham...great riding program. Compete in hunters/equitation and have been riding since I was eight.

Balto-I do believe that thacher's riding program is based around western style, which I ride english in eventers.

Yes, western, a little over a year, of course! :) 3/4 of the schools I'm applying to have equestrian, including Thacher :D

Cool! What schools are you applying to?

I second the Stoneleigh-Burnham recommendation. Equestrian is outstanding, as is the science program. Nice campus.

I ride English, in hunter Jumpers/ Equestrian.

I have been riding horses since I was four.

I am applying as a day student, so I will come home after the sport at 5:00, then ride for 30-60 min. I will be very busy.

Where are you applying?

oh the groton school, middlesex school, concord academy, and brooks school. :]

Unles you're Masscentric, look at Kent for riding...

I've been riding for 11 years. I ride English, in eventing, but I focus on dressage.
None of the schools I applied to have an equestrian program, but I will be a day student so I will ride my horse after school.
It won't be an issue in the fall and winter, but school is probably going to take up a lot og time in the spring that would otherwise be spent preparing for the summer show season.

Exactly. I hope they will let me make it count towards a sport for show season. :]

Ah, I went horseback ridding for the first time yesterday........ I'm SO sore!
