Question to UW students in business

I'm planning on taking econ 201, math 112, and accounting 215 next quarter. Is this course load too heavy? From what I hear all three are pretty tough. My main concern is applying to foster next year and if I will have all the prerequisites done by then so I can. I've only taken econ 200 and math 111 so far...

I don’t think so, but maybe I’m not a good judge. I took Calculus, Managerial Accounting, and Microeconomics over the summer (at community college, after being admitted to UW) while working full time so I could have the prerequisites done in order to apply for UAG in Winter 2012 (because I’m a transfer student.)

If you need it done this quarter for prereqs so you can get your application done on time, you don’t really have an option but to take them all together. Otherwise, you can spread them out if you feel that will be best for you.

Yeah… the rigor of the classes at the UW can’t really be compared to those at CCs.

I know, but I took those classes while working full time (35-40 hours a week) and still got 4.0s in all of them. Additionally, I got 3.9s in all of my classes - taken at Foster - while interning 25 hr/week last quarter. But anyway, this isn’t about me. My point is that if you need those classes completed by the end of the quarter than you have no choice but to do them now. That’s why I took the classes I took during summer quarter; I needed to have them done before I submitted my application for Foster.

My personal perspective on your question is that it really depends on the individual. Math 112 is not too hard, but there are many homework. Economics 201 is not too difficulty, but requires some studying time. Accounting 215 is not too tough, but it will taking a lot of studying time. I have managed to do well and earn a 4.0 in accounting. My advice to you is that I would take time and take two pre-requisite courses at a time. The goal is to do well.

Math 112 = INSANELY EASY (I cannot stress this enough)
Econ 201 = Not terribly difficult
Acct = no clue

With that said, I would follow shark06’s advice and mix in a GEN-ED to go with 2 of the 3.
