I just logged onto the Harvard application tracker and it says that the only material they received was my common app. I sent in my supplement yesterday, and my test scores a few days before that. And my teacher recs were sent in months ago, yet they don't show up either. Is this normal? Will they not consider my application?

Have a little patience! System tracking DOES NOT occur in real time. Someone in Harvard’s file room must download each part of your application, look for your official test scores, create an electronic file AND a paper file of everything. Then they have to manually update the tracker. With 30,000 applications to process, it can take 2 to 3 weeks for the application tracker to accurately reflect all of materials that have been received.

If something is missing from your file, Harvard will notify you around the 3rd week of January and you will have ample time to correct the issue by faxing the materials into the office.

19KL: it’s hard to imagine but there wasn’t a army of people, soaked up with Starbucks, at the Harvard admissions terminals at 12:01AM downloading and sorting all the precious applicants’ materials and immediately informing them that they’ll be admitted.

The quality of help at Harvard has dipped dramatically, you know. They just don’t know how to handle their staff, not like the old days.
