Question

Does anyone know the main requirements for getting into OCU? Sat/Act scores and classes/etc? I looked on the website and couldn’t find anything.

I found this info on the web site by searching admission requirements. It was on the page about OCU Serves. Here is the link: http://www.okcu.edu/financialaid/OCUServesScholarshipApplicationandParticipationRequirements.pdf

Although it is about OCU Serves, in order to participate in that program, a student must meet regular admission requirements, which it says are one of the following: ACT 22, SAT 1020 or GPA 3.0 AND rank in the top half of your class. I don't know if this is current information or not, and I don't know if that SAT is the old version or the new version. Good luck.

Some basic admissions stats from US News and World Report's 2006 Online Edition for Oklahoma Citiy University (not specific to the performing arts program):

Acceptance Rate: 79%
Avg. HS GPA: 3.6
HS Courses Required: 4 English, 3 Math, 3 Science (1 Lab), 2 Foreign Language, 3 Social Studies/History
Class Rank: 30% from top 10% of HS class, 61% from top 25%, 91% from top 50%
Mid SAT Range (25-75%tile): V 520-630, M 510-610, Combined (old SAT) 1030-1240
Mid ACT Range (25-75%tile): English 22-28, Math 19-16, Composite: 22-26

Hope that helps. Remember that the 79% admit rate is to the university itself, not to the audition based programs which at all schools is much lower than the college's overall admit rate.

Allyson, please feel free to contact the Undergraduate Admissions office at 1-800-633-7242 extension 5050 if you have any questions!

can your audition outway academic acceptance? i know my friend jennifer waldman who was on broadway in titatinc, wicked, and now shes nessarose on tour said that sometimes your audition can outway or determine acceptance into the school!

They will occasionally consider students who meet the original academic criteria, but they are usually accepted as on "probation". I do not have any statistics about how many of the current students that this may apply to!
