Question

(It's been about 2-3 months since I've last posted anything on CC, so bear with me if the question has been answered).

Those with titles of M.D, Ph.D, PsyD, etc. are addressed as "Doctor", correct? If J.D is an abbreviation for "doctor of jurisprudence", why aren't individuals with this title addressed as "Doctor"?

Esquire.......

I understand the suffix, Esquire, but why not the prefix "doctor"?

a doctor of law (lld) is an advanced law degree. the jd is the same as what used to be called a bachelor of law (llb)

Because that would be too prideful, plus J.D. is a controversial title, most common law countries still call a law degree (LLB) instead of J.D. You only get to be called Doctor of Law when you've completed your SJD or LLD

Oh. Okay..........
