question

This may seem like a weird question but I dont exaclty know the answer to it.

WHen you are applying to colleges, do you have to prove that you have won certian awards that you wrote down.

This is because I qualified for AIME (some national math competiton right below USAMO), but my school never gave me like a certificate or pin to show that I qualified. THey just had a list form the people saying who qualified and we just took the test.

So is this a problem or do colleges not really care about that?

ALso, do you think I can contact the AIME/AMC people in Nebraska becuase they should have my name on file to prove to the colleges. Or do colleges do that themselves.

thanks

I'm guessing that it would be difficult for colleges to verify every detail on the thousands or tens of thousands of applicatons they receive..........

They take your word for it. There is a lot of trust involved in the process. If they find you lied, you will possibly be recinded or expelled.

If they do doubt it, then it is easy enough to verify. On the AMC website there are docs that show everyone who qualified for the AIME. They also show the scores for anyone who got about a 6 (that was last year, it may differ)
