Do your research. Get used to doing research. Respectfully, don't rely on this forum to answer questions that you can find the information on the internet if you put the effort in. West Point is all about effort and self-reliance. This forum will point you in the right direction, but you need to do the work.

6 went MP, which was 1/3 of all WP cadets goign MP..
there are some good sites .. but my laymans interpretation may help
QM- is in charge of stuff, warehousign if you will.. in charge of groups that maintain, document and keep track of the beds, tents, rope and soap, large and small to be sure the army has what it needs where it needs it (expect weaponry--that would be ordance)

Adjutant General- PErsonell- in a unit in charge of keeping track of people, there files, tracking award, training etc....

Signal Corps--communications equipment and operations

Just so you know - you won't know what branch you will get until your senior year. You don't pick it before you get to West Point.
It is good to have an idea of options however.

Thanx! that makes me feel more relaxed! but just curious cause I haven't been able to find in info can you go to airborne school during your four years at USMA? Thanx agian!

btosm14 - Yes you have a chance to go to airborne school during your summers at USMA. My son arrived at Ft. Benning for airborne school last Thursday and he starts his training today.

Airborne school is considered an MDS (Military Development School) and they are offered during the summers. A cadet requests MDS's in the spring, and they are then assigned to whichever MDS's are available. MDS's could be available to rising yuks, based on availability. The higher your class rank the more likely it is that you'll get an MDS.

As far as what my daughter told me, she can sign up for any of the MDS's, including air assault and airborne. Now whether she's assigned them is another matter.

My daughter is, even as we speak, at air assault school, She just finished her Plebe year and was fortunate enough to be one of the ones who got this particular training. She has been looking forward to this for a while and spent her short break training hard to make sure she was in top physical shape when she got there.

Between CFT and Re-orgy Week, my rising yuk daughter will be doing CMIT (Cadet Medical Intensive Training). On completion, she will have a basic EMT certificate.
