This might be a dumb question, but I'm only a sophomore and haven't really looked into college essays yet.

Someone told me that college essays are just something you pour your voice into, and they're not supposed to be in an essay format. They're just supposed to be ramblings that flow together nicely.

Is that true or not? Thanks.

I don't know the answer to the question.. but I would say any piece of writing has a structure. Even this post has a structure. I'm also not sure what "essay format" is.. in the beginning I was taught the 5 paragrash "essay," Then how the thesis sentence goes in a certain place, but then the "deleyed thesis essay." and I read professional essays that are 7000 words with 30 paragraphs.
